FILMMAKER AND SCREENWRITER

I’m Joel, a filmmaker drawn to stories that delve into the complexities of the human psyche.
From an early age, cinema stirred questions in me—about identity, memory, displacement, and the quiet forces that shape who we become. These questions continue to guide the films I make today.
My body of work spans feature screenplays, short films, and documentary, often exploring psychological tension and the lingering effects of personal and global histories.
My films have received top honors and official selections at international festivals, but beyond recognition, I strive to create work that is raw, layered, and emotionally resonant.
Alongside narrative filmmaking, my work is increasingly informed by environmental storytelling. I bring strong expertise in GIS and remote sensing, using spatial analysis and satellite imagery to examine landscapes, environmental risk, and human–environment relationships. These tools shape my approach to wildlife and environmental documentaries, grounding cinematic storytelling in place, data, and lived experience.
I believe in stories that reveal what’s too often left unspoken. I hope my films help others find a sense of wonder and responsibility within this vast, complicated world—encouraging deeper attention to both human lives and the environments that hold them.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies, Environmental Studies, and Theater at Wesleyan University under the Freeman Asian Scholarship. I also hold a Licentiate (LTCL) in Music Performance with distinction from Trinity College London.

To tell stories that transcend borders, challenge perceptions, and ignite conversations.
