Who AM I

My Story

I’m Joel, a filmmaker drawn to stories that delve into the complexities of the human psyche.

From an early age, cinema stirred questions in me—about identity, memory, and the quiet forces that shape who we become. These questions continue to guide the films I make today.

My body of work spans feature screenplays and short films, often exploring psychological tension, displacement, and the lingering effects of personal and global histories. My films have received top honors and official selections at international festivals, but beyond recognition, I strive to create work that is raw, layered, and emotionally resonant.

I believe in stories that reveal what’s too often left unspoken. I hope my films help others find their own sense of wonder and possibility in this vast, complicated world—sparking a connection to something greater.

I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies and Theater at Wesleyan University under the Freeman Asian Scholarship. I also hold a Licentiate from Trinity College London (LTCL) in Music Performance with distinction.

My Vision

To tell stories that transcend borders, challenge perceptions, and ignite conversations.
